Responding to Suicide - Be You

Experiencing the death of anyone in your school community to suicide can have a devastating effect on individuals and the wider community.

If your secondary or combined school is responding to or recovering from a suicide death or attempted suicide, contact the Be You State Manager or Clinical Lead on the numbers below. Be You Consultants can provide timely response support to you and your school leadership/wellbeing staff to Inform, Support and Manager, staff, students and families, as well as provide proactive recovery support.

  • SA State Manager: 0448 381 280
  • SA Clinical Lead: 0417 119 733

The team are available during the hours of 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday.

It's important for schools to undertake immediate risk management processes, follow emergency management protocols and contact your relevant department or school authority.

If you’re interested in Postvention Planning (being prepared) or reviewing your plan (as it might have been completed years ago, or perhaps you have new leadership/wellbeing staff) please get in contact with the numbers listed. Alternatively, if you know your Be You consultant, contact them direct. A Postvention Planning workshop takes 3 hours (can be broken-up) involving theory and a practical element of developing or updating the plan, attaching roles to tasks. This is a discussion-based workshop facilitated by 2 headspace Schools - Be You consultants.

Suicide Postvention Toolkit:

You can download the Complete Toolkit. We encourage you to promote our online Professional Learning available to all educators in Responding Together to build capacity around the Postvention Plan you develop. Evidence shows the more prepared individuals are, the better they are to respond as this helps buffer against distress.
